MEDAN. UMMUSU - UMM USU organizes International Accreditation Socialization activities for Faculties / SPs and Study Programs online within USU and public and private universities in Medan.
Universitas Sumatera Utara always follows the development of the world of Higher Education in various aspects that accompany it, one of which is the focus of the university, namely public recognition of the graduates produced as resources that have the competencies needed by stakeholders / industry. One of the achievements of this recognition is to direct the Faculty / SPs and study programs to be able to obtain the title of international accreditation. This is a form of achieving the vision and mission of the Universitas Sumatera Utara, as well as an indicator of strategic targets in the USU Strategic Plan 2020-2024.
The USU Quality Management Unit held an International Accreditation Socialization activity for Faculties / SPs and Study Programs on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at 08.00 WIB to 16.00 WIB, which was carried out online through the zoom meeting application. This activity aims to find out in depth about the essence, strategies, stages and benefits obtained from achieving International Accreditation by faculties and study programs. On the other hand, this socialization activity is also expected to provide clear enlightenment between the mandatory BAN PT and LAM PTKes accreditation policies that must be implemented by study programs with government policies on international accreditation. Currently, the Ministry encourages universities to achieve international accreditation through improving the quality of education. International accreditation is very important as a guarantee and recognition of the quality of higher education to produce graduates needed by the industrial community at the international level. Besides other benefits, namely introducing universities in Indonesia to the international community to be better known and can become a destination for various international parties related to mastering and strengthening the fields of education, research and community service.
The Socialization of International Accreditation for Faculties/SPs and Study Programs was officially opened by the Rector of the Universitas Sumatera Utara Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos, M.Si. In his direction, the USU Rector said that USU has a mandate with the USU Strategic Plan 2020-2024 with the achievement of internationalization of performance, where USU must be able to provide the best services and achievements in accordance with international indicators. USU is included in the QS World University rankings this year with a rank of 1201+ out of 16 universities in Indonesia included in the QS World University Rankings. This is one of the first steps for USU to design an important agenda in the form of work programs in order to achieve the best and quality services to meet the indicators included in international achievements. Accreditation in study programs needs to be seen as a planning process and always carried out continuous evaluation with the spearhead being the improvement of study program services and facilities. Furthermore, the process of recording all activities, including fundamental weaknesses, for example in the administration of student and lecturer services, must be well documented and digitized so that improvements can be made through monitoring and evaluation as part of the university's internal quality assurance system.
